The MUUNI Team continued its consultation process by meeting District Commissioners (DC) and CEOs of the Northern and Central Regions to ensure that the Muuni Fund Malawi serves all stakeholders in the country. The function was held today at Kambiri holiday resort and it targeted all DCs and CEOs from the Central and Northern Region. The DCs and CEOs are critical to the implementation of the Fund because among other activities they’ll provide support in the evaluation process at the district level. The DC’s and CEO’s were led by the Director of Rural Development from Local Government, Douglas Mkweta while MUUNI team was led by Wezi Salima. MACRA’s Director of Economic Regulations, Andrew Nyirenda represented the MACRA Director General.

During the meeting there was a detailed presentation by Ms Salima which attracted many observations and views from the DCs and CEO’s, they have commended the MUUNI Team for the meeting and pledged support to the implementation of the Fund to benefit Malawians.

The Muuni Fund is an ICT research and Innovation Fund which supports and incubates local research and innovation across Malawi. The Fund will facilitate the development of skills in ICT in all economic sectors of the country.

Additionally, the fund will also promote the development of research facilities in academic institutions and the industry. It’s main purpose it to provide a sustainable environment that fosters research and innovation for local solutions.
