Strengthening Skills in Cybersecurity: Muuni Fund Engages in Cyber Drills at the Malawi University of Science and Technology

The Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (mwCERT) is conducting cyber drill tours across various academic institutions in Malawi, which started at the Malawi University of Science and Technology.

The two-day cyber drills brought together students to simulate real-world cyberattack scenarios. These exercises were designed to strengthen technical skills, sharpen response strategies, and promote collaboration among key actors in the cybersecurity ecosystem.

As part of the program, the Muuni Fund provided awareness on its operations, sharing how it supports digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Malawi. This engagement gave participants a deeper understanding of how the Fund contributes to building an enabling environment for emerging technologies, including those in cybersecurity.

Head of MwCERT, Christopher Banda says the drills aim to build a competent and cyber-resilient generation ready to defend the nation’s digital assets as they Pa transition into the workforce.

MUST’s Head of Science and Information Technology, Dr. Kankuzi hailed MwCERT’s efforts to ensure that as more people adopt digital technologies, they are made aware of how to protect themselves from any form of cyber fraud.

The Fund continues to play a role in raising awareness and supporting initiatives that foster innovation and resilience, ensuring that Malawi’s digital ecosystem grows securely and inclusively.
