On the 30th of November 2022, the University of Malawi through the Centre for Social Research (CSR) held an Annual Research Dissemination conference and Muuni Fund was in attendance. The theme of the event was Promoting Relevant Research and Innovations - Gateway to 2063.

During the conference, Muuni fund made a presentation on what the fund is all about, how it will operate, as well as the benefits of the fund.

Making the presentation at the Annual Research Dissemination conference, team leader of the fund Wezi Salima stated that “The fund recognizes that ICT is a catalyst for socio-economic development for Malawi as stated in Malawi 2063 (MW2063) and with this fund it will be easier to stimulate research and development in ICT as an anchor to economic advancement and development.”

Muuni Fund is an ICT research and innovation fund that will provide resources targeting ICT research and innovations in all sectors of the economy.

The fund has several areas of research and innovation in: agriculture, construction, education, health, manufacturing, transportation, etc.

Furthermore, the fund has four categories: academia, industry research, MACRA special projects and the general category.
